Data for SuccessAll Students
Enrollment by Student Level
As the number of students enrolling at NMSU has increased over the past twenty years, growth has occurred at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. However, more growth (as a percentage of total enrollment) has occurred at the graduate level.
Undergraduate and Graduate Students by Age Group
As the percentage of graduate students has expanded since 1998, a larger proportion of the student population is older in 2008 than in 1998; however, the undergraduate population has become younger, moving from slightly more than 25% of undergraduates older than 23 to about 20% of the undergraduate population. Graduate students have also become younger, with a greater proportion of graduate students in the "under 30" age range in 2008 than in 1998.
Age Ranges of All Students
Although more students are on campus in Fall 2008 in all age groups in comparison to Fall 1998, most growth has occurred in the 21 to 25 years age range. This age group has students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Ethnicity of All Students
In 1988, more than two-thirds of NMSU's student population self-identified as "White/Other." Ten years later, this percentage had dropped to just over half of all students, driven by an increase in Hispanic students from less than a quarter to more than a third of all students. By 2008, NMSU has almost an equal number of Hispanic and White/Other students, and increased percentages of American Indian, Asian American, Black and International students.
Gender of All Students
In Fall 1998, NMSU had more male students than female students. Within ten years, this had switched; females outnumbered males. After ten more years, in Fall 2008, NMSU continues to have more women students on campus then men.
