Academic Advising Council

The Academic Advising Council assists students as they become self-directed learners by teaching them to develop educational plans directed toward their academic, career, and personal aspirations. Formed in the Fall 2007, members include faculty and staff advisers from all colleges and student representatives.

Council goals

  1. Develop an advising vision and mission for NMSU
  2. Develop advising policies, processes and procedures to provide standards and consistency
  3. Assist with professional development for new and continuing advisors
  4. Assist with assessment of academic advising
  5. Assist with recognition of excellence in advising
  6. Communicate advising issues with colleges and student success units
  7. Assist with technology implementation for improved service to students
